Aging doesn’t have to be sad, depressing or scary. I know, because I’ve worked with older folks for more than 30 years, and my passion for helping them and their adult children has improved the quality of life for entire families.  As a elder care manager, or geriatric care manager, I specialize in helping seniors age in place, often in their home of many years. I assist older folks by establishing a personal, honest and trusting relationship that honors their wishes for continued autonomy and maximum independence.  I meet with my clients in their own home,  where we work together on solving problems, giving the older folks the needed support and strength to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.  I will advocate for them with their doctors to ensure that the older folks negotiate the health-care system as successfully as possible with the minimum of stress.  When necessary, I will help hire additional help, including caregivers and even a company to move clients’ furnishings to an assisted-living or skilled-nursing facility when this becomes the best option. Naturally, I always take each client’s wishes into consideration and invite them to participate in decisions as much as they desire and are able.  I specialize in dementia care and am an active member of the San Diego Alzheimer’s Association and facilitate support groups for families.  My clients pay privately for my services, much like they do for an attorney. I bill per hour for my time, including travel.  I hope I can help you and your parents to transition through the challenges of aging, while freeing up your time to do what you do best: love your parents.
